Keep Your Child Safe with a Bed Guard
Bed guards come in extremely handy when your child reaches toddler stage. Used to safely keep the child within the bed during the night, you no longer have to worry about them falling out and injuring themselves. So where can you find the right bed guard for your child and what should you look out for when purchasing one?
The Different Bed Guards Available
As with all baby furniture there is quite a large range of bed guards available to choose from. There are ones with Dropside features, lockable ones and even ones which fold away. All are useful and have their own advantages, it is just knowing what you want before you set off to purchase one that you need to first establish.
Fold away bed guards are obviously handy in the fact that they can be safely used at night and then to save space and make the nursery/child’s bedroom look tidier, they can be folded away.
Dropside bed guards usually slide right under the bed and they are extremely easy to adjust and put into position. Lockable bed guards are generally a good idea if you have a particularly naughty toddler who is tempted to take the guard down and wander around. They also give that added peace of mind that it will not accidentally fall down or be pushed over.
No matter which style of bed guard you choose, there are a number of different colours and themes you can purchase them in. For example, many bed guards come with cartoon characters on them such as Winnie the Pooh, or you could buy plain ones which come in a variety of different colours to suit your nursery.
Whilst most bed guards are not suitable for children under the age of 18 months, there are some bed guards which are especially designed for babies. These types of guards ensure that your baby is in the best possible position to get a safe nights (or afternoon’s) sleep. They also ensure that the baby is neither too hot nor too cold and they are usually suitable up until the age of seven months.
No matter which bed guard you decide to go with, always ensure that you purchase the right size to suit your child’s needs. All bed guards have different measurements so always be sure to measure the area that you need and also that it is suitable for the size of your child.
